His surgical education began at the Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine, one of the region's established osteopathic training institutions. This foundation shaped a career centered on the anatomy of facial aging and its correction.

The deep plane facelift sits at the heart of Dr. Bloom's practice. This technique works beneath the SMAS (the superficial musculoaponeurotic system, a fibrous layer supporting the facial muscles), lifting deeper tissue rather than pulling on the skin alone.

Dr. Bloom's focus extends to the eyes as well as the jawline and neck. His listed specialties include blepharoplasty (eyelid surgery), orbital fat transfer, and comprehensive facial rejuvenation for patients seeking natural, lasting results.

Orbital fat transfer distinguishes part of his aesthetic approach. Rather than simply removing tissue around the eyes, repositioning and grafting fat can restore youthful volume that facial aging tends to erode over time.

A hallmark of the deep plane philosophy is the pursuit of a rested, unpulled appearance. By repositioning tissue at a deeper level, the technique aims to avoid the tight, operated look sometimes associated with older facelift methods.

Recovery is a subject Dr. Bloom addresses candidly with patients. Deep plane surgery involves an initial period of swelling and bruising, followed by a gradual return to normal life over several weeks.

Dr. Bloom has spoken publicly about the evolving role of social media in plastic surgery. In interviews, he has suggested that transparency online has helped transform the specialty and inform patients considering facial procedures.

His practice reflects a team-based model. Bloom Facial Plastic & Aesthetic Surgery includes fellow surgeons, injectors, aestheticians, and support staff who together offer both surgical and non-surgical facial care.

Rhytidectomy — the medical term for a facelift — is only one part of a broader menu. The practice also offers neck lifts, mid-facelifts, and structural fat grafting, allowing treatment plans tailored to individual anatomy.

Dr. Bloom's patient focus tends toward those seeking meaningful, natural rejuvenation rather than dramatic transformation. This aligns with the deep plane approach, which prioritizes restoring youthful facial contours.

Bryn Mawr itself offers a refined, discreet setting on Philadelphia's Main Line. The area is known for its leafy affluence and proximity to sophisticated medical infrastructure.

For women considering facial rejuvenation, Dr. Bloom represents a long-established practice grounded in decades of surgical experience. His combination of deep plane expertise and eyelid work addresses the areas where facial aging often shows first.

Dr. Richard Bloom continues to practice in Bryn Mawr, offering consultations for patients weighing deep plane facelift surgery and related procedures. His profile on DeepPlane.com provides a starting point for those researching their options.

I truly can’t say enough good things about my experience. From my very first consultation to post-op care, the entire team made me feel comfortable, informed, and completely taken care of every step of the way. Going into surgery, I was definitely nervous, but they walked me through everything and answered every single question I had. Recovery was so much smoother than I expected, and I always felt supported throughout the process. My only regret is not doing my procedure sooner!

I had a great experience with Sarah! She does a great job, treated me efficiently for my goal of a natural look. She encourages what products you need to achieve your goals, doesn’t try to upsell. She’s got a warm and friendly manner that will make me a repeat customer

I had an upper blepharoplasty, orbital rejuvenation with fat transfer, and a neck lift without skin removal with Dr. Bloom, and I couldn’t be happier with the experience and results. I’m 40, and after a virtual consultation with another surgeon, I was surprised by how many procedures were being recommended. Two people I trust in the plastic surgery space both pointed me to Dr. Bloom for a second opinion. His approach was thoughtful, honest, and much more conservative. He took the time to explain what I actually needed and why. Now that I’ve gone through the surgery, the results look natural and exactly what I was hoping for. He genuinely cares about his patients and is incredibly accessible, even providing his personal cell phone for any questions. I’m so glad I was referred to him and trusted his judgment.

I had an upper blepharoplasty, orbital rejuvenation with fat transfer, and a neck lift without skin removal with Dr. Bloom, and I can honestly say the entire experience has been fantastic from start to finish. I’m 40, and when I had a virtual consultation with a different plastic surgeon, I was surprised by the number and extent of procedures that were being recommended. After discussing those recommendations with two individuals I know who work within plastic and cosmetic surgery, they both strongly encouraged me to get a second opinion and specifically pointed me to Dr. Bloom before moving forward. When I met Dr. Bloom in person in his office, he took a completely different approach. He took the time to really assess me and walk through everything in a thoughtful and honest way. He explained why several of those recommendations were unnecessary and not appropriate for me, and instead suggested a more conservative plan based on what would actually give me the best outcome. Now that I have gone through the surgery and am seeing my results, I could not agree more with his judgment. I am so happy with how everything is healing and progressing so far. The results look natural, refreshed, and exactly what I was hoping for. What really sets Dr. Bloom apart is how much he genuinely cares about his patients. He is not someone who is going to recommend surgery just because a patient wants it. He takes the time to evaluate what is truly right for you and stands behind that. He also gives you his personal cell phone number when you schedule your surgery, so you can reach out before surgery with questions and also postoperatively at any time if you have concerns. That level of accessibility meant a lot to me. From consultation through post op, everything has been smooth, professional, and well managed. I always felt informed and in very capable hands. I truly hope someone who is considering a facial cosmetic plastic surgery procedure reads this and takes the time to meet with Dr. Bloom. He is a highly skilled surgeon with a wonderful bedside manner and consistently great outcomes. He really is the best in the business. I am so glad I was referred to him and that I trusted his judgment on the right approach for me.

Dr. Richard Bloom approaches the deep plane facelift by working beneath the muscular layer of the face rather than tightening skin alone. This method targets the true source of facial aging: the descent of deeper tissue over time.

The technique centers on the SMAS, the superficial musculoaponeurotic system. This is a continuous sheet of fibrous tissue that envelops the facial muscles and connects to the skin above.
