Dr. Tatar's Surgical Approach

The deep plane facelift technique employed by MD Sedat Tatar involves precise dissection beneath the superficial musculoaponeurotic system (SMAS) to achieve comprehensive facial rejuvenation. This advanced approach differs from traditional facelift methods by releasing and repositioning the deeper facial tissues as a unified layer, preserving the natural connections between skin and underlying structures.

During the procedure, careful attention is paid to the sub-SMAS dissection, which allows for more effective correction of midface descent and jowl formation without creating tension on the skin surface. The surgical plane extends beneath the facial nerve branches, requiring detailed anatomical knowledge and refined technique to ensure patient safety while maximizing aesthetic outcomes. Tissue repositioning in the deep plane technique addresses multiple aging concerns simultaneously, including nasolabial fold deepening, cheek volume loss, and jawline definition deterioration. By working in this deeper anatomical layer, the surgeon can achieve more natural-looking results that age gracefully over time, as the lifting forces are distributed across the entire SMAS-platysma complex rather than relying on skin tension alone. The methodology typically involves creating well-concealed incisions along the natural creases around the ears, followed by meticulous elevation of the skin-SMAS flap as a composite unit. This preservation of tissue planes maintains better blood supply to the elevated tissues, potentially reducing recovery time and improving scar quality. For the neck region, the deep plane approach often incorporates platysma muscle (the broad, thin muscle covering the front of the neck) modification to address banding and restore youthful neck contours. MD Sedat Tatar's application of these principles reflects the evolution of facial rejuvenation surgery toward more anatomically-based techniques that respect facial nerve pathways while delivering lasting results.

This affiliation suggests completion of specialized training in plastic and reconstructive surgery, though specific details regarding medical school attendance and residency training locations are not publicly specified at the time of writing (2026). The TSPRAS membership indicates adherence to the society's continuing education requirements and ethical standards for aesthetic surgery practice. For deep plane facelift procedures specifically, surgeons typically pursue additional training beyond standard plastic surgery residency, often through specialized workshops, cadaver labs, or mentorship programs focusing on advanced facial anatomy and surgical techniques. The complexity of deep plane dissection requires thorough understanding of facial nerve anatomy and tissue planes, knowledge typically acquired through years of dedicated facial surgery practice. While the exact duration of Dr. Tatar's surgical experience is not specified in available data, his established practice in Istanbul and substantial patient review base suggest several years of active surgical practice. Board certification in plastic surgery generally requires completion of medical school, followed by at least six years of surgical residency training, with the final years focusing specifically on plastic and reconstructive procedures. Surgeons performing deep plane facelifts often hold additional credentials or training certificates from international aesthetic surgery societies, though such specific certifications for Dr. Tatar would require direct verification with his practice.

This pricing structure reflects Turkey's favorable currency exchange rates and lower operational costs while maintaining international standards of surgical care. The cost variations within Istanbul's market depend on multiple factors including surgeon experience, facility accreditation, anesthesia type, and the extent of complementary procedures performed simultaneously. MD Sedat Tatar's specific pricing would need to be confirmed through direct consultation, as individualized quotes consider each patient's unique anatomical needs and desired outcomes. Medical tourists arriving at Istanbul Airport or Sabiha Gökçen International Airport find modern transportation infrastructure connecting them to the city's primary medical districts, including Şişli, Beşiktaş, and Kadıköy where many aesthetic surgery clinics are concentrated. The city's East-meets-West character extends to its medical sector, where surgeons like MD Sedat Tatar combine internationally recognized techniques with Turkish hospitality traditions that emphasize personalized patient care. Accommodation options range from medical recovery hotels offering specialized post-surgical amenities to luxury properties along the Bosphorus, with many establishments experienced in catering to international medical tourists. Recovery from deep plane facelift surgery follows a predictable timeline, with the initial two weeks representing the most intensive healing period. Days 1-7 typically involve moderate swelling and bruising, particularly around the eyes and jawline, with patients advised to maintain head elevation and apply cold compresses as directed by their surgical team. MD Sedat Tatar's patients can expect drain removal within 24-48 hours if drains were placed, followed by initial suture removal around day 5-7. The second week sees significant improvement in swelling, though residual puffiness may persist, particularly in the morning hours. Weeks 3-4 mark the transition period where most patients feel comfortable returning to non-strenuous work activities and limited social engagements, though some residual swelling may still be noticeable in photographs. The deep plane technique's preservation of tissue connections often results in less bruising compared to traditional methods, though individual healing varies based on factors including age, skin quality, and adherence to post-operative instructions. By the 6-8 week mark, approximately 80% of swelling has resolved, allowing patients to appreciate their rejuvenated contours while final results continue to refine. The 3-6 month period represents the final settling phase, where subtle improvements in tissue position and scar maturation create the natural-looking outcomes characteristic of well-executed deep plane surgery. Nerve sensations may take several months to fully normalize, with temporary numbness or tightness being common experiences during the intermediate recovery phase. Sun protection remains crucial throughout the recovery period and beyond, as healing tissues demonstrate increased sensitivity to UV exposure.

I have nothing but amazing things to say about my experience with Dr. Sedat and his team. I underwent a 360 tummy tuck with lipo, breast lift with fat transfer and BBL in December 2025. I’m almost 4 months post op and am incredibly happy with my results. At no point did I experience any pain or feel like I wasn’t being adequately taken care of. I was taken care of by Dr. Sedat’s team from the moment I walked out of the airport until I went home. All transportation in Istanbul, hotel, hospital stay, aftercare and massages were all arranged by his team. Dr. Sedat is extremely professional and explained all aspects of how the surgery process would go. He answered all my questions and always checked in to make sure I understood what he was explaining. During my recovery the nurses checked in on me every day, changed my garments, came to my hotel to help me shower and were available whenever I needed them. Since leaving Istanbul his team has checked in on me several times to make sure everything has been healing properly and have been there to answer all questions. I can’t wait to go back again for my next surgery later this year!

I had my surgery with Dr Sedat on the 4th of November, and I’m now just over 3 months post-op and I can honestly say this was one of the best decisions I’ve ever made. I had a BBL, extended tummy tuck, breast lift, 360 lipo, thigh lipo and skin tightening, and I can honestly say this was one of the best decisions I’ve ever made. From the very beginning, Dr Sedat made me feel safe, heard, and confident in my decision. He was honest about what was realistic for my body, explained everything clearly, and never made me feel rushed or pressured. Now that I’m a few months into recovery, my results are really settling and the difference is incredible. My waist is snatched, my stomach is flat, my shape looks natural but enhanced, and my body finally feels proportional. Even through the swelling stages, I could already see how carefully and precisely he works. He truly understands the female body and how to sculpt it beautifully, not excessively. Post-op care was also amazing. Any concerns I had were addressed, and I felt supported throughout my recovery. Surgery is not easy, but having a surgeon who genuinely cares makes all the difference. If you’re considering surgery and want a surgeon who is skilled, professional, honest, and detail-oriented, I 100% recommend Dr Sedat. I would choose him again without hesitation. Thank you for changing my life and giving me my confidence back 🤍

I had my BBL surgery with Dr. Sedat Tatar and the experience exceeded every expectation. The procedure was done in a luxury hospital setting with 24/7 care during the first 48 hours. Every detail was handled flawlessly — constant monitoring, impeccable care, and a level of attention that made me feel completely safe and supported. Post-surgery, I stayed in a recovery apartment with professional aftercare, including massages and daily health checks. Even now, at 6.5 weeks post-op, the team continues to check in, which truly reflects their dedication. Dr. Sedat Tatar is an exceptional surgeon — highly skilled, personally involved, and with an incredible eye for detail. My results are beautiful and natural, and I receive compliments almost daily. I would recommend him and this clinic without hesitation to anyone seeking luxury-level care and outstanding results.
