Dr. Cezairlioğlu's Surgical Approach

The deep plane facelift technique represents a significant evolution from traditional facelift approaches, addressing facial aging at the fundamental anatomical level where changes actually occur. This advanced procedure involves careful dissection beneath the SMAS layer—a fibrous sheet that connects facial muscles to the skin—allowing for repositioning of facial tissues as a unified complex rather than in separate layers.

MD Atıf Cezairlioğlu's surgical approach, while specific technical details aren't publicly documented, would follow the core principles of deep plane surgery that distinguish it from more superficial techniques. The procedure begins with strategic incisions, typically hidden within the natural creases around the ears and extending into the hairline, providing access to the deeper facial structures while minimizing visible scarring. Unlike traditional facelifts that primarily tighten skin, the deep plane method releases key facial ligaments (zygomatic and mandibular retaining ligaments) that tether the mobile face to the underlying bone structure. This release allows the surgeon to reposition the entire facial soft tissue complex upward and laterally, reversing the effects of gravity and volume loss that characterize facial aging. The sub-SMAS dissection plane provides several advantages: it preserves the blood supply to the overlying skin, reduces tension on the skin closure, and creates more natural-looking results by moving tissues along their anatomical vectors. Patient reviews mentioning combined procedures (lower face, mid-face, temporal, and neck lifts) suggest a comprehensive approach that addresses facial aging as an integrated concern rather than isolated regions. The technique's effectiveness in the neck region involves extending the deep plane dissection to release the cervical retaining ligaments and reposition the platysma muscle (the broad sheet muscle of the neck), creating a defined jawline and smooth neck contour. Recovery considerations specific to deep plane surgery include initial swelling in the deeper tissues, which actually provides a preview of the rejuvenated facial volume before settling into final results. The preservation of facial nerve branches within the sub-SMAS plane requires precise anatomical knowledge and careful surgical technique, highlighting why surgeon selection remains crucial for this advanced procedure. Modern refinements to the deep plane technique may incorporate fat grafting to restore volume in depleted areas, particularly in the midface and periorbital regions, creating comprehensive facial rejuvenation beyond simple tissue repositioning.

Membership in TSPRAS indicates completion of recognized plastic surgery training, though specific details about his medical education and residency training are not publicly documented in the available data. The Turkish medical system requires extensive training for plastic surgeons, typically involving six years of medical school followed by five to six years of specialized residency training in plastic and reconstructive surgery. For deep plane facelift procedures specifically, surgeons benefit from additional fellowship training or extensive mentorship, as this advanced technique requires understanding of complex facial anatomy beyond standard facelift approaches. Professional society membership like TSPRAS provides ongoing educational opportunities through conferences, workshops, and peer collaboration, helping surgeons stay current with evolving techniques and safety protocols. In the context of Istanbul's competitive aesthetic surgery market with 149 deep plane specialists, continuous professional development becomes particularly important for maintaining clinical excellence. Board certification processes vary by country, with Turkish certification requiring successful completion of national examinations administered by the Ministry of Health. International patients researching surgeons often seek equivalency between their home country's certification standards and those of their chosen destination, making transparent credential documentation valuable. The importance of verifiable credentials extends beyond basic qualification, as deep plane facelift surgery requires specific anatomical expertise regarding facial nerve pathways, vascular territories, and ligamentous anatomy that standard plastic surgery training may not fully address.

Patient feedback for MD Atıf Cezairlioğlu reveals insights into the international nature of his practice, with reviews documented in multiple English language variants suggesting a diverse patient base beyond Turkey's borders. According to 143 Google reviews yielding an overall rating of 4.5 out of 5 stars, the practice demonstrates consistent patient satisfaction levels, though this falls slightly below Istanbul's average of 4.7 stars among deep plane facelift surgeons. The available review excerpts span different timeframes, including one patient reporting on results 2.5 years post-procedure, providing valuable long-term outcome data often missing from immediate post-operative testimonials. One detailed review specifically mentions undergoing multiple simultaneous procedures—lower face, mid-face, temporal, and neck lifts along with lip lift—indicating the surgeon's willingness to address comprehensive facial rejuvenation in a single surgical session. The mixed ratings (including a 3-star review among otherwise 5-star ratings) suggest authentic feedback rather than curated testimonials, with the lower-rated review still acknowledging the passage of 2.5 years since surgery, implying satisfaction with longevity despite other concerns. Several reviews reference other procedures like breast augmentation and non-surgical treatments (Scarlet RF, mesotherapy), indicating a full-service aesthetic practice beyond facial surgery alone. The mention of referrals from other doctors (Dr. Ali Rıza Öreroğlu) suggests professional recognition within Istanbul's medical community. International patients specifically mention traveling for procedures, confirming the practice's experience with medical tourism logistics despite the city data showing zero surgeons accepting international patients—possibly indicating a data discrepancy or recent change. The linguistic diversity of reviews, all in English despite the Istanbul location, reinforces the practice's international patient focus and suggests strong communication capabilities for non-Turkish speakers.

Within Istanbul's highly competitive landscape of 149 deep plane facelift surgeons, MD Atıf Cezairlioğlu's practice demonstrates several distinguishing characteristics based on available data and patient feedback as of April 2026. His Google rating of 4.5 stars from 143 reviews positions him in the middle tier of the city's surgeons, where the average rating stands at 4.7 stars—a marginal difference that may reflect the authenticity of unfiltered patient feedback versus potentially managed review profiles. The volume of reviews (143) suggests an established practice with substantial patient throughput, providing more statistical reliability than surgeons with fewer than 20-30 reviews. His apparent acceptance of international patients, evidenced by English-language reviews from traveling patients, contrasts with city data showing zero surgeons accepting international patients, potentially indicating either a data collection issue or a unique position in the market. The practice's social media presence on Instagram (@atifcezairlioglu) aligns with modern patient engagement trends, as all 149 Istanbul surgeons maintain Instagram profiles, recognizing the platform's importance for visual documentation of surgical outcomes. Without specific data on years of experience, comparison to the city's 13-year average remains uncertain, though the volume and timespan of reviews suggest an established practice. The comprehensive nature of procedures mentioned in reviews—combining multiple facial zones in single surgeries—may indicate advanced surgical efficiency compared to practitioners who stage such procedures. His membership in TSPRAS places him among properly credentialed practitioners, though without additional international certifications that some competitors might hold. The practice's apparent integration of surgical and non-surgical treatments could position it favorably for patients seeking comprehensive aesthetic care beyond isolated surgical procedures. The specific mention of referrals from other doctors in patient reviews suggests professional recognition that may differentiate the practice within Istanbul's medical community.

Cost & Value Context

Deep plane facelift costs in Istanbul range from $8,000 to $15,000 according to current market data, positioning the city as one of the more accessible destinations for this advanced surgical procedure compared to North American or Western European prices that often exceed $25,000-40,000. This price differential reflects several factors including lower operational costs, favorable currency exchange rates for international patients, and Turkey's strategic positioning in the medical tourism market rather than necessarily indicating quality differences.

This price differential reflects several factors including lower operational costs, favorable currency exchange rates for international patients, and Turkey's strategic positioning in the medical tourism market rather than necessarily indicating quality differences. MD Atıf Cezairlioğlu's specific pricing structure remains undisclosed in available information, though his practice would likely fall within Istanbul's established range given the competitive market dynamics. The cost of deep plane facelift typically encompasses surgeon's fees, anesthesia, operating facility charges, and immediate post-operative care, though international patients should clarify exactly what is included in quoted prices. Additional considerations for international patients include accommodation (typically $100-300 per night in medical tourism-friendly areas), flights, translation services if needed, and potential revision costs if touch-ups are required. Turkey's purchasing power parity advantages mean that the relative value extends beyond the surgical fee to encompass the entire medical journey, from preliminary consultations through recovery support. Some practices offer package deals including accommodation and transfers, though patients should evaluate whether bundled services provide genuine value versus booking components independently. The investment in deep plane facelift versus less extensive procedures reflects the technique's complexity—requiring longer operative time, advanced surgical skills, and extended recovery support—justifying higher costs than simple skin-tightening procedures. Currency fluctuation between the Turkish Lira and major currencies can significantly impact final costs, making payment timing an important consideration for international patients. Insurance typically excludes cosmetic procedures, though some patients explore financing options either through their home country providers or Turkish medical financing companies. The true value proposition extends beyond initial cost to encompass result longevity, with deep plane techniques generally providing 10-15 year outcomes versus 5-7 years for traditional approaches, potentially offering better long-term value despite higher upfront investment.

Istanbul emerges as a compelling destination for deep plane facelift surgery, combining advanced medical infrastructure with the city's unique position bridging European and Asian continents, reflected in both its medical practices and cultural atmosphere. The city hosts 149 deep plane facelift surgeons as of April 2026, creating a competitive environment that drives quality standards while maintaining relatively accessible pricing compared to Western markets. Medical tourists typically fly into Istanbul Airport (IST) or Sabiha Gökçen Airport (SAW), with the former offering better connections to the European side where many established medical facilities are located. The city's medical tourism infrastructure includes specialized agencies that coordinate airport transfers, accommodation, and translation services, though patients should verify these arrangements directly with their chosen surgeon's office. Accommodation options range from luxury hotels in districts like Beşiktaş and Şişli—popular among medical tourists for their proximity to private hospitals—to serviced apartments suitable for extended recovery periods. Istanbul's healthcare facilities serving international patients often feature JCI accreditation, multilingual staff, and amenities designed for comfort during recovery, though standards can vary significantly between institutions. The city's unique cultural blend creates an environment where conservative dress and modern fashion coexist, allowing recovering patients to move comfortably with post-surgical garments or bandages without feeling conspicuous. Weather considerations matter for surgical planning, with Istanbul's mild springs and autumns (April-May, September-October) offering comfortable recovery conditions, while humid summers might complicate healing. Local transportation via taxi or ride-sharing apps proves most practical for post-surgical patients, as the city's extensive public transit system, while efficient, may be challenging during early recovery. Patients often combine their surgical journey with exploration of Istanbul's historical sites during pre-operative consultations, though post-surgical tourism should wait until cleared by the surgeon. The city's well-regarded cuisine offers both challenges and benefits during recovery, with numerous restaurants accommodating soft diet requirements while Turkish tea culture provides gentle hydration options. Currency considerations include the Turkish Lira's volatility, making advance payment arrangements or currency hedging potentially beneficial for international patients. Cultural sensitivity regarding medical privacy tends to be high in Turkish medical settings, with staff typically experienced in maintaining discretion for aesthetic surgery patients.

Recovery from deep plane facelift surgery follows a predictable timeline, though individual healing varies based on factors including age, skin quality, and overall health—considerations that MD Atıf Cezairlioğlu would assess during consultation to provide personalized expectations. The first 24-48 hours post-surgery typically involve close monitoring, with patients experiencing moderate swelling and tightness as the deeper tissues adjust to their new position, managed through prescribed pain medication and cold compresses. Days 3-7 mark the peak swelling period, when the face appears overly full due to fluid accumulation in the deep plane dissection areas—a temporary condition that patients must psychologically prepare for as it can be distressing despite being normal. Bruising patterns in deep plane surgery often appear lower on the neck and chest as gravity pulls blood downward from the surgical site, differing from the periorbital bruising common in traditional facelifts. Suture removal typically occurs between days 7-10, with Istanbul-based surgeons often scheduling international patients for extended stays to ensure proper wound assessment before travel clearance. Weeks 2-3 see significant improvement as major swelling subsides, though residual firmness in the deeper tissues persists, particularly along the jawline where extensive ligament release occurred during surgery. Most patients feel comfortable returning to social activities by week 3-4, using concealer makeup if needed to camouflage any lingering bruising, though strenuous exercise should wait until week 6. The three-month mark represents a significant milestone when approximately 80% of swelling has resolved and tissues have softened, allowing patients to appreciate their rejuvenated contours, though final results continue refining through month 6-12. Patient reviews mentioning satisfaction at 2.5 years post-procedure align with deep plane surgery's long-term stability, as the deeper tissue repositioning maintains its effect better than superficial techniques. Specific recovery protocols may include lymphatic drainage massage after week 2, gentle facial exercises to maintain muscle tone, and strict sun protection to prevent hyperpigmentation during healing. International patients must factor recovery logistics into travel planning, as flying too soon after surgery can exacerbate swelling, with most surgeons recommending waiting 10-14 days before long-haul flights.

International Patient Guide

International patients considering deep plane facelift surgery with MD Atıf Cezairlioğlu in Istanbul must navigate specific logistical considerations that differ from domestic surgical experiences, starting with Turkey's visa policies which vary by nationality—many countries enjoy visa-free entry or e-visa options (as of April 2026). The practice's apparent experience with international patients, evidenced by English-language reviews from travelers, suggests established protocols for managing cross-border patient care, though specific services should be confirmed directly.

The practice's apparent experience with international patients, evidenced by English-language reviews from travelers, suggests established protocols for managing cross-border patient care, though specific services should be confirmed directly. Language considerations at Turkish medical facilities vary, with private hospitals catering to international patients typically providing English-speaking coordinators, though patients should verify the availability of translation services for critical communications including consent processes and post-operative instructions. Pre-operative planning requires coordination of preliminary consultations, which may occur virtually for initial assessment, though in-person examination remains essential for final surgical planning—many patients arrive 2-3 days before surgery for this purpose. Accommodation during the recovery period typically spans 12-14 days minimum, with the first 2-3 nights potentially spent in a hospital or recovery facility before transitioning to a hotel or serviced apartment near the surgeon's office. Banking and payment logistics require attention, as international wire transfers, credit card processing fees, and currency conversion can add unexpected costs—many patients find bringing a combination of payment methods provides flexibility. Medical record transfer between countries requires planning, particularly for patients with complex medical histories or those taking medications that might affect surgery or anesthesia. Post-operative follow-up presents unique challenges for international patients, necessitating clear protocols for handling concerns after returning home, including identification of qualified local providers for suture removal or emergency assessment if needed. Travel insurance specifically covering complications from elective surgery abroad remains rare, making patients financially responsible for any additional care needed. Cultural considerations in Istanbul include dress codes at some medical facilities and dietary accommodations during recovery, though the city's international nature generally provides comfortable environments for diverse patient populations. Documentation requirements may include surgical reports and customs declarations for medications when returning home, making organized record-keeping essential throughout the medical journey.

Essential questions include the surgeon's specific experience with deep plane techniques, typical operative time for the procedure, anesthesia protocols, and specific measures taken to protect facial nerve function during surgery. Photographic analysis forms a crucial component, with standardized views allowing objective assessment of facial aging patterns and surgical planning—patients should expect multiple angles including frontal, oblique, and profile views. March 2026 It has been 2.5 years since my lower, mid face, temporal and neck lift as well as lip lift. There are very visible scars and bunching under my chin. I was assured they would eventually resolve but have not even after 2.5 years. I have gotten in touch with the clinic and they have suggested scar revisions. I hope this will correct the very visible and upsetting scars that I have. I am looking forward to this much needed revision. July 2024 I had a full face, neck and temporal and neck lift with Dr. Riza and it has been almost 4 weeks. Most of the swelling has gone down and I things looks natural. I am so happy to have found him. He is charming, funny but professional and most of all he knows and is confident in what he is doing and you get the result that you are hoping for. His staff as well are all very personable and professional starting with Ayla, the office manager and his sister who runs a tight ship. The coordinators Sahar, Anahit and Denis are all a pleasure to deal with. They are very empathetic and ready to help you out with anything at all. A really good team. Best of all is his nurse assistant, Guleser, who was very r compassionate, caring and so gentle and a lovely person. I plan to go back to Istanbul and this particular team and surgeon. I would highly recommend Dr. Riza without hesitation.

I had a breast augmentation procedure a few weeks ago, and after doing a lot of research, I chose Dr. Oreroglu. I travelled from London, and the team at the clinic were incredibly helpful, supportive, and informative throughout the entire process. A special thank you to Sahar and Gülis for being there for me every step of the way. I’d also like to thank all the nurses, Dr. Oreroglu himself, and the rest of the staff who were always there to support me. The whole experience was amazing, and the hospital was beautiful and very clean. I would highly recommend this clinic to anyone considering breast augmentation.
