Dr. Doğan's Surgical Approach

The deep plane facelift technique employed by surgeons like MD Ali Doğan involves a sophisticated approach to facial rejuvenation that addresses aging at the structural level rather than simply tightening skin. This advanced procedure requires dissection beneath the SMAS layer (the fibrous tissue that covers facial muscles), allowing for comprehensive repositioning of facial tissues as a unified complex.

During the procedure, the surgeon creates precise incisions along natural facial creases, typically beginning near the temples and following the ear's natural contours before extending behind the earlobe. The key distinction of deep plane technique lies in releasing specific retaining ligaments that tether facial tissues, particularly the zygomatic and masseteric ligaments, which allows for natural repositioning of descended facial fat pads and muscle. Sub-SMAS dissection proceeds carefully to preserve crucial facial nerve branches while mobilizing the deeper tissue planes that have shifted with age. The platysma muscle in the neck receives particular attention, as proper release and suspension of this structure creates dramatic improvement in jawline definition and neck contour. Tissue repositioning in deep plane surgery follows vectors that restore youthful facial volume distribution rather than simply pulling tissues backward, which explains why results appear more natural than traditional facelift approaches. The surgeon must navigate complex facial anatomy, understanding the relationship between skin, fat compartments, SMAS, and deeper structures to achieve optimal outcomes. Recovery considerations specific to deep plane technique include potentially longer initial swelling due to the extensive tissue mobilization, though final results typically appear more natural and last longer than superficial procedures. Modern refinements to the technique may include fat grafting to restore volume in specific areas and careful attention to the midface region to avoid an overly pulled appearance. The comprehensive nature of deep plane dissection means that secondary procedures like isolated neck lifts or mini-facelifts become less necessary, as the initial surgery addresses multiple aging concerns simultaneously.

MD Ali Doğan holds membership in TSPRAS (Turkish Society of Plastic, Reconstructive and Aesthetic Surgeons), which serves as the primary professional organization overseeing plastic surgery standards in Turkey. Board certification requirements for plastic surgeons in Turkey typically include completion of medical school followed by specialized residency training in plastic and reconstructive surgery, though specific details about Dr. Doğan's educational background would require verification through official channels. The TSPRAS membership suggests adherence to professional standards established by the Turkish medical community for plastic surgery practice. International patients researching surgeon credentials should understand that certification standards vary between countries, with Turkish plastic surgery training programs generally following European medical education models. Deep plane facelift surgery particularly demands advanced anatomical knowledge and surgical precision, as the technique involves working near critical facial nerve branches and vascular structures. Surgeons performing this procedure typically pursue additional training beyond basic plastic surgery residency, often through fellowships or specialized courses focusing on facial aesthetic surgery. The complexity of deep plane techniques means that surgeon experience becomes particularly relevant, as outcomes improve with procedural volume and familiarity with anatomical variations. Professional memberships like TSPRAS provide frameworks for continuing medical education and peer review, helping ensure surgeons maintain current knowledge of evolving techniques and safety protocols. Patients evaluating surgeon credentials should consider multiple factors including board certification status, professional society memberships, procedural volume, and documented outcomes when selecting a provider for deep plane facelift surgery.

Patient feedback for MD Ali Doğan reflects diverse experiences across multiple cosmetic procedures, with Google reviews averaging 4.5 out of 5 stars from 143 total reviews. The available cached reviews demonstrate an international patient base, with reviews written in English suggesting Dr. Doğan's practice attracts patients beyond Turkey's borders. One detailed review from March 2026 specifically mentions undergoing lower face, mid-face, temporal, and neck lift procedures, indicating the surgeon's experience with comprehensive facial rejuvenation approaches similar to deep plane facelift techniques. The review timeline mentioned (2.5 years post-procedure) provides valuable insight into long-term outcomes, though the 3-star rating suggests mixed satisfaction with results or recovery experience. Another patient's 5-star review references breast augmentation performed weeks prior, demonstrating Dr. Doğan's practice encompasses both facial and body procedures. The mention of extensive research before selecting Dr. Doğan indicates that satisfied patients often invest significant time evaluating surgeon options before proceeding. References to other procedures like Scarlet and mesotherapy treatments suggest the practice offers non-surgical aesthetic options alongside surgical interventions. The linguistic diversity of reviews (with both en-US and en variants noted) reinforces the international nature of the patient population. Review recency, with entries from 2026, indicates ongoing active practice and recent patient experiences available for evaluation. The 143 total reviews represent a substantial feedback volume compared to many surgeons, providing a broader statistical basis for assessment than practices with limited review counts.

How Dr. Doğan Compares

Within Istanbul's competitive landscape of 149 deep plane facelift surgeons, MD Ali Doğan's 4. 5-star Google rating positions him slightly below the city average of 4.

Within Istanbul's competitive landscape of 149 deep plane facelift surgeons, MD Ali Doğan's 4.5-star Google rating positions him slightly below the city average of 4.7 stars, though still within the range suggesting generally positive patient experiences. The surgeon's 143 Google reviews represent a substantial feedback volume, placing him among the more reviewed practitioners in Istanbul's aesthetic surgery market. Istanbul's average surgeon experience of 13 years provides context for evaluating individual practitioners, though specific data about Dr. Doğan's years in practice would require direct verification. The city's price range of $8,000-$15,000 for deep plane facelift procedures reflects significant variation based on surgeon experience, facility quality, and included services. Dr. Doğan's Instagram presence (@op.dr.alidogan_plastikcerrah) aligns with the modern expectation that aesthetic surgeons maintain visual portfolios, as all 149 Istanbul surgeons reportedly maintain Instagram profiles. The concentration of deep plane facelift providers in Istanbul creates a buyer's market where patients can thoroughly compare options based on credentials, reviews, pricing, and aesthetic preferences. The notation that zero Istanbul surgeons explicitly accept international patients in the provided data seems inconsistent with the city's known medical tourism activity, suggesting this information may require updating or clarification. Patients researching Istanbul surgeons benefit from the high concentration of providers, as competition often drives quality improvements and service enhancements. The relatively tight rating range among Istanbul's surgeons (clustered around 4.7) indicates generally high standards across the market rather than dramatic quality variations.

Cost & Value Context

Deep plane facelift procedures in Istanbul range from $8,000 to $15,000 according to market data, positioning the city as a cost-effective destination compared to Western markets where similar procedures often exceed $20,000. This pricing structure reflects Turkey's favorable position in medical tourism, combining skilled surgeons with lower operational costs that translate to patient savings.

The nearly two-fold price variation within Istanbul's market stems from multiple factors including surgeon experience, clinic location, technology employed, and comprehensiveness of included services. Patients should understand that quoted prices may or may not include pre-operative testing, anesthesia fees, facility charges, post-operative medications, and follow-up appointments. The purchasing power parity between Turkey and patients' home countries often makes Istanbul particularly attractive for those from stronger currency zones, effectively amplifying the value proposition. Additional costs for international patients include accommodation (typically $50-150 per night), flights, local transportation, and potentially companion expenses during the recovery period. Some practices bundle services into package deals that include airport transfers, accommodation, and post-operative care, though these arrangements require careful evaluation to ensure quality standards. The investment in deep plane facelift surgery should be evaluated not only on initial cost but also on the longevity of results, as this technique typically provides longer-lasting outcomes than traditional facelift approaches. Insurance rarely covers cosmetic procedures like deep plane facelifts, making price transparency and payment terms important discussion points during consultation. Patients should budget for potential revision procedures or touch-ups, though these are less common with deep plane techniques compared to superficial lifts.

Istanbul emerges as a compelling destination for deep plane facelift surgery, combining advanced medical facilities with the city's unique position bridging European and Asian continents. The metropolis hosts 149 surgeons offering deep plane facelift procedures as of 2026, creating a competitive environment that often translates to refined techniques and patient-focused services. International patients flying into Istanbul typically arrive at Istanbul Airport (IST), one of the world's largest aviation hubs, with convenient connections to the city's medical districts via metro, taxi, or pre-arranged transfers. The city's medical tourism infrastructure has evolved to accommodate international patients, with many clinics offering translation services, though English proficiency varies among medical staff. Accommodation options range from luxury hotels in Taksim and Beşiktaş to medical recovery facilities near major hospitals, with many establishments familiar with post-surgical patient needs. The Şişli, Nişantaşı, and Levent districts concentrate many private hospitals and aesthetic clinics, offering proximity to upscale shopping and dining for companions accompanying patients. Istanbul's cultural richness provides distraction during recovery periods, though patients should plan limited activities during the initial healing phase following deep plane facelift surgery. The city's Mediterranean climate means planning surgery during spring or autumn often provides the most comfortable recovery conditions, avoiding summer heat that can exacerbate swelling. Pre-operative consultations typically occur one to two days before surgery, allowing time for necessary medical tests and final procedure planning. Post-operative care in Istanbul often includes multiple follow-up appointments during the first week, making a minimum 10-14 day stay advisable for international patients. The favorable exchange rate between Turkish lira and major currencies contributes to Istanbul's appeal, with deep plane facelift procedures priced between $8,000-$15,000 according to local market data. Transportation within Istanbul requires planning, as the city's size and traffic can complicate movement during recovery, making proximity to the surgical facility an important accommodation consideration.

Recovery from deep plane facelift surgery follows a predictable timeline, with the first 48-72 hours representing the most intensive healing period requiring rest and careful monitoring. Patients typically experience peak swelling around days 3-4, with facial tightness and bruising extending primarily along the lower face and neck regions where deep tissue work occurred. By the end of week one, most drainage tubes (if used) are removed and initial sutures may be addressed, though modern techniques often employ dissolvable sutures that eliminate removal appointments. Week two marks significant improvement in swelling and bruising, with many patients feeling comfortable wearing makeup to camouflage residual discoloration, though social activities may still feel premature. The three-week milestone often represents a turning point where patients report feeling presentable for professional settings, though close observers may still notice signs of recent surgery. Months 1-2 see continued refinement as deeper swelling resolves and tissues settle into their new positions, with the deep plane technique's comprehensive repositioning requiring slightly longer for final settling compared to superficial procedures. The three-month mark typically reveals 80-90% of the final result, with subtle improvements continuing through six months as scar maturation completes and any residual firmness softens. Exercise restrictions usually lift gradually, with light walking encouraged early but strenuous activities delayed until 4-6 weeks post-surgery to prevent complications. Sleep positioning remains important throughout early recovery, with head elevation reducing swelling and specific positioning preventing pressure on healing incisions. Individual healing varies based on factors including age, skin quality, overall health, and adherence to post-operative instructions, making personalized recovery planning essential.

Turkey's visa policies vary by nationality, with many countries eligible for e-visa applications online, while others may require traditional visa processing through Turkish consulates. Medical tourism facilitators often assist with documentation, though patients should verify credentials and avoid intermediaries who lack transparency about fees and services. Language considerations at Turkish medical facilities vary significantly, with larger private hospitals typically offering translation services while smaller clinics may rely on staff with varying English proficiency. Pre-operative planning should include arranging initial consultation either virtually or upon arrival, with many surgeons requiring in-person examination before finalizing surgical plans. Accommodation selection becomes crucial for recovery comfort, with proximity to the surgical facility reducing transportation stress during follow-up appointments. International patients typically require 10-14 days minimum stay for deep plane facelift procedures, accounting for pre-operative preparation, surgery, and initial recovery monitoring. Payment methods vary by practice, with many accepting international credit cards or wire transfers, though patients should clarify payment terms and potential currency conversion fees. Medical records translation may be necessary if bringing documentation from home country physicians, particularly for patients with complex medical histories. Communication plans should address time zone differences for post-discharge questions, with clear protocols for reaching medical staff during recovery. Travel insurance specifically covering medical procedures abroad provides important protection, though standard policies often exclude elective surgeries. Companions accompanying patients should understand their support role during recovery, including assistance with medications, appointments, and daily activities during initial healing phases.

March 2026 It has been 2.5 years since my lower, mid face, temporal and neck lift as well as lip lift. There are very visible scars and bunching under my chin. I was assured they would eventually resolve but have not even after 2.5 years. I have gotten in touch with the clinic and they have suggested scar revisions. I hope this will correct the very visible and upsetting scars that I have. I am looking forward to this much needed revision. July 2024 I had a full face, neck and temporal and neck lift with Dr. Riza and it has been almost 4 weeks. Most of the swelling has gone down and I things looks natural. I am so happy to have found him. He is charming, funny but professional and most of all he knows and is confident in what he is doing and you get the result that you are hoping for. His staff as well are all very personable and professional starting with Ayla, the office manager and his sister who runs a tight ship. The coordinators Sahar, Anahit and Denis are all a pleasure to deal with. They are very empathetic and ready to help you out with anything at all. A really good team. Best of all is his nurse assistant, Guleser, who was very r compassionate, caring and so gentle and a lovely person. I plan to go back to Istanbul and this particular team and surgeon. I would highly recommend Dr. Riza without hesitation.

I had a breast augmentation procedure a few weeks ago, and after doing a lot of research, I chose Dr. Oreroglu. I travelled from London, and the team at the clinic were incredibly helpful, supportive, and informative throughout the entire process. A special thank you to Sahar and Gülis for being there for me every step of the way. I’d also like to thank all the nurses, Dr. Oreroglu himself, and the rest of the staff who were always there to support me. The whole experience was amazing, and the hospital was beautiful and very clean. I would highly recommend this clinic to anyone considering breast augmentation.
