Dr. Coleman'S PERSPECTIVES

AI-assisted profile summary

Signature technique

Dr. Coleman's signature technique in facial rejuvenation centers on the deep plane facelift, a highly advanced surgical approach. This method is distinguished by its precise targeting of the deeper SMAS (superficial musculoaponeurotic system) layer of the face, rather than simply addressing superficial skin. He emphasizes that by meticulously repositioning these underlying structures, the procedure achieves results that are not only more natural in appearance but also significantly longer-lasting compared to conventional facelift techniques. This sophisticated understanding of facial anatomy and surgical finesse allows him to effectively address the signs of aging at their source, providing comprehensive and enduring rejuvenation for his patients.

About

With more than 33 years in practice, Dr. John Coleman has built a career centered on the ear, nose, and throat as well as facial plastic surgery in Atlanta. As of July 2026, he practices through John Coleman, Jr., MD, an established Atlanta clinic focused on comprehensive head and neck care.

Dr. John Coleman is a facial plastic surgeon and otolaryngologist based in Atlanta, Georgia, who is listed as board-certified by the American Board of Otolaryngology–Head and Neck Surgery (ABOHNS). His work spans facelift surgery, rhytidectomy, and broader facial rejuvenation.

Rhytidectomy, the medical term for a facelift, is one of several procedures within his facial plastic surgery scope. His practice combines cosmetic facial work with functional ENT care, a pairing common among surgeons trained in otolaryngology.

Dr. Coleman is reported to have completed his medical education at the University of Oxford. This background places his foundational training within one of the older academic medical traditions in the English-speaking world.

Among facial procedures, the deep plane facelift represents an advanced approach to addressing facial aging. It works beneath the superficial muscular aponeurotic system, the fibrous layer that supports the skin and underlying facial muscles.

Facial plastic surgeons who perform deep plane techniques focus on repositioning tissue rather than simply tightening skin. This distinction matters for patients seeking natural-looking rejuvenation that respects the underlying facial anatomy.

Dr. Coleman's clinical foundation in otolaryngology gives him detailed familiarity with the structures of the head and neck. This anatomical knowledge is directly relevant to facial surgery, where nerves, muscle, and soft tissue must be navigated with care.

His specialties, as reported, include facelift, rhytidectomy, head and neck surgery, otolaryngology, ENT, facial plastic surgery, and allergy treatment. This breadth reflects a practice model that treats both the appearance and the function of the face and airway.

Allergy and sinus care remain part of his clinical work, a reminder that his practice grew from the diagnostic and surgical roots of ear, nose, and throat medicine. Patients often first encounter him through functional concerns before exploring cosmetic options.

The deep plane facelift is designed to produce durable, natural results by lifting deeper facial layers. Recovery from such a procedure typically unfolds over several weeks, with swelling and bruising fading gradually before final results settle.

Dr. Coleman's approach, in keeping with his surgical training, emphasizes careful patient assessment before any procedure. Facial plastic surgery decisions depend on individual anatomy, skin quality, and personal goals.

Atlanta, where Dr. Coleman practices, is a major medical center in the American Southeast. The city draws patients from across Georgia and neighboring states seeking specialized facial surgery and ENT care.

Well-regarded surgeons in this field combine technical skill with clear communication, helping patients understand both the possibilities and the limits of facial rejuvenation. Dr. Coleman's long tenure reflects sustained experience across a wide surgical range.

For women in their fifties and sixties considering facial rejuvenation, choosing a surgeon with deep anatomical training and years of practice is a meaningful starting point. Dr. Coleman's profile reflects both of these qualities.

This profile on DeepPlane.com summarizes publicly available and reported information about Dr. Coleman's background, credentials, and practice focus for patients researching deep plane facelift options in Atlanta.

Chose DrC after interviewing several other doctors for the procedure I needed. He has a very pleasant, calm demeanor, and he reassured me that all would go well with the surgery. Which indeed it did; the Piedmont surgery center took me right on time and had me on my way on schedule without a whole lot of discomfort. While the aftermath of sinus surgery is never particularly pleasant, I can say now a month out that it was worth doing and I’m glad I did it. I highly recommend anyone consider Dr. Coleman for their procedures.

Dr Coleman is ABSOLUTELY THE BEST! Very calm and collected. Explains everything step by step and LISTENS to your concerns. Will answer any questions you have. He recently did my surgery for a deviated septum and I feel so much better! Plus my recovery has been great. Dr Coleman and his staff are kind, personable, patient, and knowledgeable. Best ENT in Atlanta and by being his patient, and I can verify that!

Dr. Coleman is truly exceptional. Although some time has passed since my surgery, no words can express my gratitude. After a previously botched rhinoplasty by another surgeon, I was referred to Dr. Coleman and it was the best decision I could have made. He was honest and realistic about what could be achieved, setting clear expectations from the start. The surgery itself went smoothly and the care I received afterward was just as impressive. Myra, in particular, was consistently kind, attentive and thorough during every follow-up. Dr. Coleman is not only skilled and knowledgeable, but also warm, compassionate and genuinely cares. Thank you again, Dr. Coleman and the entire team at Piedmont ENT, for treating me like family and helping repair my nose.

Dr Coleman and his assistant were great. The sinus inspection and removal of the post-surgery blood clots, was efficient and all things considered, not as painfully discomforting as I had expected. He clearly explained his observations and my recovery/healing progress, and fully answered all of my questions. As usual the medical care he provided was consistent with the great level of care that I have come to expect fm Piedmont ENT & Related Allergies over the 14 years that I have been a patient. Additionally ALL of the support staff were wonderful without exception.
