Signature technique

Dr. Samuel Mattine is recognized for his expertise in deep plane facelift surgery, a technique he employs as a key component of his broader facial rejuvenation practice. This advanced method involves the precise release and repositioning of the SMAS layer, which is the superficial musculoaponeurotic system of the face. His application of this technique aims to deliver results that appear natural and offer greater longevity compared to more traditional facelift approaches. As one of London's deep plane facelift specialists, Dr. Mattine focuses on achieving comprehensive and harmonious facial aesthetic improvements for his patients.

Pricing philosophy

Dr. Samuel Mattine provides pricing details during individual consultations. His London practice serves patients who travel for specialized facial surgery, including deep plane facelifts. Dr. Samuel Mattine is a board-certified deep plane facelift surgeon based in London, UK. With 24+ years of experience. Rated 5.0/5 based on 10 Google reviews.

About

With 24 years of surgical practice and FRCS credentials, Dr. Samuel Mattine has built his London career at the intersection of facial plastic surgery and reconstructive head and neck work. As of July 2026, he is listed as a consultant facial plastic surgeon practicing in London, United Kingdom, with a clinical focus on deep plane facelift surgery and complex facial rejuvenation.

Dr. Samuel Mattine is a London-based facial plastic surgeon who holds FRCS credentials and has practiced for more than two decades. His work centers on the deep plane facelift, a technique that repositions the deeper facial tissues rather than simply tightening the skin.

His training spans both aesthetic and reconstructive disciplines. Alongside cosmetic facial surgery, Dr. Mattine has performed head and neck procedures, including tumor removal, which speaks to a broad command of facial anatomy.

The deep plane facelift sits at the heart of his aesthetic practice. This approach addresses the SMAS (the superficial musculoaponeurotic system, a supportive layer of muscle and connective tissue beneath the skin) by releasing and lifting it as a unit.

Dr. Mattine's declared specialties include deep plane facelift, revision rhinoplasty, facial rejuvenation, and facial implants. This range reflects a surgeon comfortable with both primary aesthetic goals and the more demanding work of correcting earlier operations.

Revision rhinoplasty is a notable part of his profile. Correcting a previous nose operation demands a different skill set than a first-time procedure, since scar tissue and altered anatomy complicate the surgical field.

His approach to facial aging is structural rather than superficial. By working beneath the SMAS layer, the deep plane method aims to restore youthful contours to the midface, jawline, and neck in a way that ages more naturally over time.

Dr. Mattine has also contributed to professional education in his field. He has been listed as a faculty speaker at facial plastic surgery meetings, presenting on topics such as total nasal reconstruction and the aesthetics of the chin and neck.

His practice offers a full spectrum of facial procedures. Beyond the facelift, his website details neck lifts, eyelid surgery, brow lifts, chin and cheek implants, lip lifts, buccal fat pad removal, fat grafting, and non-surgical options.

Recovery guidance is part of the care he provides. Deep plane facelift recovery typically unfolds over several weeks, with initial swelling and bruising giving way to progressively refined results across the following months.

Dr. Mattine practices within the competitive London market, a city long regarded as a European center for facial plastic surgery. Patients traveling to the capital benefit from its strong medical infrastructure and international connectivity.

His clinical interest in the neck and jawline is well documented. He has spoken publicly on genioplasty (surgical repositioning of the chin bone) and neck-lift techniques, reflecting a particular attention to lower-face harmony.

The combination of aesthetic and reconstructive experience shapes his surgical judgment. A surgeon who has managed head and neck disease brings a deep familiarity with the nerves, planes, and blood supply that make facelift surgery safe.

Dr. Mattine's patient focus centers on natural-looking rejuvenation. The deep plane philosophy he follows favors restoring the position of facial tissues over creating a pulled or tightened appearance.

For women in their fifties and sixties considering facial rejuvenation, Dr. Samuel Mattine represents an established London option whose practice blends cosmetic refinement with a reconstructive foundation. His profile on DeepPlane.com forms part of a global directory spanning more than 1,200 surgeons across 65-plus countries.

Mr Mattine carried out an operation to remove a squamus cell carcinoma from the roof of my mouth. From my experience I can say that he is a very gifted surgeon who pays great attention to detail. While this was an unpleasant experience for me, I felt that I was in very safe hands, and Mr Mattine has continued to show a great level of care throughout my follow-up appointments.

I highly recommend Mr Mattine for his professionalism and skill. He conducted several facial cosmetic procedures on me in one operation, and I do not regret it. I was very anxious leading up to the operation, and I did have doubts about proceeding. However, it turned out to be one of the best life decisions I have ever made. You are in capable hands with Samuel!

I had had cosmetic surgery on my nose previously which wasn’t successful so after many years I decided it was now or never and started to look for a surgeon. I am so glad I found Mr Mattine. I would have no hesitation in recommending Mr Mattine, if I were to have any more cosmetic surgery he would be my first choice. It takes a lot to entrust someone to alter your facial features but Mr Mattine is highly skilled, very professional and will talk you through your procedure so you know exactly what to expect”

Anne Churchill

Mr Mattine is a highly skilled surgeon, often putting right that which has gone wrong during procedures carried out by other surgeons. He routinely carries out reconstructive maxillo facial surgery which enables him to understand in detail the structures of the head and neck. I wouldn't hesitate in recommending Mr Mattine to anyone considering face and neck surgery.

Dr. Mattine's Surgical Approach

Dr. Samuel Mattine approaches the deep plane facelift as an operation on the deeper structures of the face rather than the skin alone.

Dr. Samuel Mattine approaches the deep plane facelift as an operation on the deeper structures of the face rather than the skin alone. The technique targets the SMAS (superficial musculoaponeurotic system), the fibrous and muscular layer that gives the midface and jawline their support.

In a deep plane rhytidectomy (the medical term for facelift), the surgeon works in a plane beneath this SMAS layer. Rather than pulling the skin tight, the deeper tissues are released from their aging attachments and repositioned upward and back as a single, unified block.
