Getting a lower bleph has its risks but there no one better on this planet to carry out the surgery. All of the nurses and receptionists were incredibly helpful before and after. I had a rhino and septoplasty done with Dr de Silva. Both the experience and final result exceeded my expectations. I couldn’t be happier with the results – my nose has always been a source of insecurity and now I really like my nose. The procedure addressed all my concerns, and the results look subtle and natural. Although the change is significant, it still looks like my nose, and no one has noticed I’ve had surgery. This has allowed me to keep my surgery private – something I didn’t expect would be possible. The fact that I got my dream nose, yet it’s so natural looking that no one noticed, speaks to Dr de Silva’s exceptional technical ability, attention to detail and understanding of facial harmony. He is also a talented artist, and I think those skills and artistic eye enhance his work. The clinic has a pleasant and calming atmosphere. Every member of staff I encountered was both friendly and highly competent. I felt I was in good hands and that I could rely on them if I needed anything – something which made a real difference, as the emotional side of having facial surgery (even if you’ve wanting it for years) is not to be underestimated. From what I’ve seen online, the most difficult emotional moments for people tend to be just before surgery and cast removal. To my own surprise I felt fine before the surgery and I credit that to Dr de Silva and his team, who made me feel supported and at ease throughout. I think the reason why cast removal can be stressful is because your nose looks a bit weird as it's still swollen and has been pinched under the cast. I recommend looking in the mirror at the clinic rather than waiting till you get home – that way if you have any questions about what you’re seeing you can get an answer straight away. I experienced no pain and recovered quickly – 12 days post-op I was able to attend my sister’s graduation. If you’re like me and don’t like sitting still – take one week off work and arrange help for the first few days (I found this to be the minimum you can realistically get away with). Recovery is naturally uncomfortable but the amazing aftercare I received made the process as smooth as possible. Someone was always available in case there was anything. When I noticed a corner of my cast had peeled, I was able to call Dr de Silva directly, which gave me great peace of mind. I was also able to go into the clinic the next day to check everything was ok and I went again a few days later to get my nose cleaned to make it more comfortable.
