He completed his medical education at Ankara Bahçelievler, building a foundation that has spanned nearly four decades of surgical work. Few surgeons practicing today carry that length of continuous experience.
Prof. Tezel is credited in the international surgical literature with contributing several techniques to the field. His published work includes methods related to scarless cartilage fixation in rhinoplasty and refinements in facial contouring.
The deep plane facelift is a central part of his facial rejuvenation practice. This technique works beneath the SMAS (the superficial muscular aponeurotic system, a layer of tissue and muscle beneath the skin), allowing the surgeon to reposition deeper facial structures rather than simply tightening skin.
His approach to facial aging emphasizes natural-looking results. Rather than pulling skin, the deep plane method releases and lifts the underlying tissue, which many surgeons believe produces a softer, less operated appearance.
Alongside facelift surgery, Prof. Tezel maintains an active rhinoplasty practice. His interest in nasal surgery is reflected in his published techniques for tip definition and cartilage fixation, described in his scientific work.
Prof. Tezel is a member of the Turkish Society of Plastic, Reconstructive and Aesthetic Surgeons (TSPRAS), the national professional body for the specialty in Turkey. Membership in a recognized society signals engagement with peer standards.
His practice reflects a combined philosophy of academic rigor and aesthetic sensibility. Working within a university faculty allows him to stay connected to teaching, research, and evolving surgical methods.
Prof. Tezel maintains a presence documenting his surgical work and educational content through his practice channels, including his professional website and Instagram account @prof.dr.erdemtezel. These platforms offer a window into his clinical focus.
His website organizes his work into detailed categories, from nose surgery and facial aesthetics to what he describes as his own named techniques. This structure reflects a career built around developing and refining specific methods.
Recovery is an important consideration for anyone weighing a deep plane facelift, and Prof. Tezel's practice addresses the healing timeline as part of the surgical journey. Deep plane recovery typically unfolds over several months before final results settle.
Istanbul, where Prof. Tezel practices, has become a significant destination for facial aesthetic surgery. The city blends European and Asian influences and hosts a large community of experienced plastic surgeons.
Prof. Tezel's long tenure, academic role, and documented contributions to surgical technique together shape a profile centered on facial rejuvenation and nasal surgery. His work spans both aesthetic refinement and reconstructive applications.
For women in their fifties and sixties considering facial rejuvenation, Prof. Erdem Tezel represents an established, academically grounded option within Istanbul's competitive surgical landscape. His decades of practice and teaching form the core of his professional standing.
What recent patients say
4.6 / 5 · 28 Google reviewsI underwent a facelift and rhinoplasty surgery with my dear Professor Erdem a year ago. I am very satisfied with the operation and its results. I came to this decision after extensive research. I am a specialist physician. While researching, I shared an anonymous post in a group of 20,000 physicians, including fellow doctors. I asked all my fellow physicians: Who should I have it done by? Are there any who have had it done and are satisfied with the results? A female neurosurgeon in the group shared her experience with us. She had also had rhinoplasty and facelift done like me. The results were extraordinary. Since Professor Erdem's name came up most often in the group, I made my decision. Professor Erdem is a physician who explains how facelifts should be performed at aesthetic surgery congresses and gives training at many scientific meetings. He is the first physician to perform facelifts in Turkey. He also has the skills to perform facelifts without leaving scars, to create a deep plane, and to ensure a natural and long-lasting result. I would like to thank him again.
My colleague, Dr. Erdem Tezel, perfectly performed my blepharoplasty 15 years ago and my rhinoplasty & nasal deviation surgery using the Tezel technique in 2024, thanks to his superior experience, respect for medical ethics, and vast knowledge. After all these years, I can finally breathe easily again; it's a wonderful world... I thank him very much and I am grateful. Dr. Mina.... '
Hello, esteemed Professor Erdem; today is the 13th day since my endoscopic facelift surgery. I want to inform you that I have experienced no pain or discomfort since the moment I had the surgery, and I am truly very pleased with the results. I would also like to share my feelings with you. After the age of 40, I had become very estranged from mirrors; my face, eyes, and eyebrows had succumbed to gravity, and the fatigue of years was reflected very badly on my face. And what bothered me most was that everyone in daily life would ask me, "What's wrong? Did something happen? Smile a little," even though there was nothing wrong, but the tired and unhappy expression on my face made me look that way. Seven days after the surgery, I heard my daughter say for the first time, "Mom, what are you smiling about?" I wasn't smiling, but my eyes looked so beautiful that my face took on a very cheerful expression. I can't describe how happy I was. In fact, today, on the 13th day after the surgery, I was able to participate in an online meeting at work with my camera on, confidently and happily. I can't describe the joy of that. From now on, God willing, if my face ages gently as you said, then I couldn't be happier. Thank you so much for your hard work and effort. My deepest gratitude to you. Nesrin Vural

Prof. Erdem Tezel approaches the deep plane facelift as a procedure that works with the deeper structural layers of the face rather than the skin alone. This distinguishes it from more superficial lifting methods that primarily tighten the skin surface.
The technique centers on the SMAS, the superficial muscular aponeurotic system. This is a continuous layer of muscle and connective tissue that sits beneath the skin and above the deeper facial muscles.
