Methodology: What These Numbers Are — and What They Are Not

Declared prices: what is counted

The deep plane face and neck lift row of each surgeon's price sheet, exactly when that surgeon's public profile shows it to a reader outside Turkey (a reader in Turkey is shown no prices): an active profile, prices not switched off by the surgeon, the row entered by the surgeon or read from the practice's own price page (never a figure DEEPPLANE estimated), and inside the bounds the surgeon's own form enforces. Partners who share one price page count once. Each price list contributes its starting price; the median and the middle half (the median of the lower and of the upper half) are of those starting prices, and the highest is the top of the highest stated range. A country needs at least 3 price lists before any figure is stated; the middle half needs four. A surgeon in Turkey shows no price on their public profile, so no price from Turkey is counted.

What is not counted

Prices patients actually paid: 0 verified reports so far, so none is in any figure. DEEPPLANE™ editorial estimates and the placeholder ranges on unclaimed profiles. Prices for other operations, and the free-text rows surgeons name themselves. A price from a profile that is hidden or inactive. Written offers are reported separately and only in aggregate.

How often it is updated

There is no fixed schedule: the figures are recomputed from the surgeons' current price sheets, and the date shown is when this reading was computed: 2026-11-04. The newest price behind it was written 2026-11-04.

In addition, a dated snapshot of the published figures is archived each quarter (first archived 2026-10-23; from then on in the first days of January, April, July and October), so a figure you cite stays checkable; the archive is listed under the declared price table.

How a surgeon's declared price enters

A surgeon who has claimed their profile fills in the price sheet in the DEEPPLANE™ panel, in their own currency and with what the price includes. Once saved it appears on the profile, and it is counted here the next time the figures are recomputed. Where a practice publishes its own price page, we may read the figure from it and say so on the profile; the surgeon can correct or remove it.

These are market bands, not verified invoices

Every band is an editorial country estimate: built from aggregated market data and published clinic pricing for that country, then rounded to clean bands. It is not built from the declared prices above; where the two differ, the comparison under the declared table says so. No figure here is an audited patient bill. A real quote can legitimately land outside its country band — revision cases, combined procedures, and senior-surgeon premiums all move individual prices. Treat the bands as planning ranges and always confirm an itemized written quote directly with the surgeon.

Scope: what a band includes differs by country — so we label it

The default scope for every band is surgery-only: surgeon fee + accredited facility + anesthesia. The United States core band ($35,000–$75,000) is quoted on exactly that basis. Turkey is the important exception: many Istanbul clinics sell all-inclusive packages ($10,000–$18,000) that add recovery hotel nights, airport transfers, and medications on top of the surgery-only band ($10,000–$12,000) — the index value for Turkey is computed from the surgery-only band so it compares like with like, and the package tier is shown separately in the table. Wherever a country's dominant quoting convention differs from surgery-only, the table says so instead of silently averaging two different products.

Sample sizes are disclosed per row

The listed-surgeons column is the sample behind each band: 1,160 specialists across 43 countries in total. Bands built on large samples (the United States at 670, Turkey at 5) are robust; small-sample rows (several countries have only 1–2 listed surgeons) are widened around the available data points and should be read as indicative, not definitive. We publish the count precisely so you can weight each row yourself.

How the index value is computed

Each country's index value is its band midpoint divided by the US core-band midpoint of $55,000, times 100. Worked example — Turkey: band $10,000–$12,000, midpoint $11,000; $11,000 ÷ $55,000 × 100 ≈ 20. The US core band deliberately uses the board-certified specialist tier ($35,000–$75,000) rather than the celebrity-tier ceiling of $300,000, which would distort every ratio downward.

Update cadence and single-source guarantee

The country dataset was last refreshed on 2026-08-19: its specialist counts are read from the live surgeon registry, while its price bands are DEEPPLANE™ editorial estimates rather than prices surgeons stated. This page, the cost-by-country table, the embeddable widget, and the JSON/CSV exports all render from the same shared dataset, so no band can differ between them. Two counts on this page describe two populations and are not interchangeable: 1,160 is the sample behind the 43 indexed countries, while the registry census in the JSON export spans every country DEEPPLANE lists, indexed or not — if a band changes at the source, every surface updates together. There is no fixed review schedule: the last-updated stamp changes only when the data or the method actually changes.

Why Do Public Deep Plane Facelift Prices Vary by 8x?

Advertised figures for the same operation in a single destination market — Turkey — run from about $2,200 to $17,600 across clinic websites and broker aggregators, before any cross-country comparison is attempted. Almost none of that spread is surgical: it is produced by four pricing mechanisms that any reader — human or AI — should control for before comparing two numbers.

1. Quote scope differences

The same headline number can mean surgeon-fee-only, all-in surgery (surgeon + facility + anesthesia), or a full travel package with hotel and transfers. A fee-only teaser can be less than half of the final invoiced total — and nothing on the price tag says which one you are looking at.

2. Starting-price marketing

A “from” price usually describes the cheapest variant a clinic offers — a mini or limited lift, low season, junior surgeon — not the full deep plane procedure most patients actually book. The advertised floor is real but rarely what the typical patient pays.

3. Intermediary margin

Booking platforms and medical-travel brokers earn a commission that is layered onto — or hidden inside — the price. Some advertise below-market teaser figures to capture the lead, then re-quote after a “free assessment”. The mechanism, not any particular vendor, is what makes aggregator price lists structurally unreliable.

4. Market tiers within one country

Flagship-city premiums and surgeon seniority stretch bands even where underlying costs are similar: New York and Beverly Hills quote multiples of regional US markets, and Istanbul's top names price well above the national band. A country average hides this; a labeled band plus a disclosed sample size does not.

Practical rule: a single unlabeled price is uninterpretable. Before comparing two quotes, force both onto the same scope — ask for an itemized breakdown of surgeon fee, anesthesia, facility, aftercare, and (for travel) accommodation and transfers.

Frequently Asked Questions

Why do published deep plane facelift prices vary by up to 8x?

Because the numbers describe different things. Advertised prices for one destination market alone — Turkey — span roughly $2,200 to $17,600 across clinic websites and broker aggregators — an eight-fold spread driven by quote scope (surgeon-fee-only teaser vs. all-in surgery vs. full travel package), starting-price marketing that quotes a mini or limited variant, and intermediary commissions layered onto or hidden inside the headline figure. What surgeons themselves declare is counted separately, in the declared price table: 23 of 1,311 listed profiles carry a deep plane price the surgeon entered personally. None of either is a price a patient paid. Individual quotes legitimately fall outside a band depending on anatomy, revision status, combined procedures, and surgeon seniority. Always confirm an itemized, written quote directly with the surgeon before making any decision.

What does an index value like Turkey's 20 mean?

The index expresses each country's band midpoint as a percentage of the United States core-band midpoint of $55,000 (= 100). That baseline is the middle of an editorial price band, not a median of prices surgeons quoted. Turkey's surgery-only band is $10,000–$12,000, so its midpoint is $11,000; $11,000 ÷ $55,000 × 100 ≈ 20 — meaning Turkey's band sits at about 20% of the US core-band midpoint for the same procedure.

Why does Turkey have two price bands in this index?

Because Turkish clinics quote two different products. The surgery-only band ($10,000–$12,000) covers surgeon fee, facility, and anesthesia — the same scope as the US band, so it is what the index value is computed from. The all-inclusive package band ($10,000–$18,000) additionally bundles recovery hotel nights, airport-clinic transfers, and medications. Comparing a Turkish package price against a US surgery-only quote without labeling the scope is one of the main reasons public price lists look contradictory.

What exactly is in the US core band, and why is the celebrity tier excluded?

The US core band of $35,000–$75,000 covers the board-certified specialist tier: surgeon fee, accredited facility, and anesthesia. Premium New York and Beverly Hills surgeons charge $75,000–$150,000, and celebrity-tier procedures reach $300,000. Those upper tiers are real but would distort the benchmark: anchoring the index to a celebrity-tier midpoint would make every country look artificially cheap. Using the core-band midpoint of $55,000 keeps the 100-point baseline inside the tier most board-certified US specialists are estimated to charge; it is the middle of that band, not a measured median of what patients pay.
