Dr. Bray'S PERSPECTIVES
AI-assisted profile summarySignature technique
Dr. Dominic Bray's signature technique is the deep plane facelift, a specialized approach he employs exclusively for facial rejuvenation procedures. This method distinguishes his work from traditional facelifts by repositioning the deeper SMAS (superficial musculoaponeurotic system) layer, rather than merely addressing superficial tissues. He asserts that this advanced technique yields more natural and lasting results for his patients. Dr. Bray is listed as holding certification from RACS-FPS, the facial plastic surgery credentialing pathway associated with the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons. This background reflects formal training in surgery of the face and neck.
His clinical focus is narrow by design. Rather than offering a broad menu of cosmetic procedures, Dr. Bray concentrates on facelift surgery, neck lift surgery, eyelid surgery, and brow lift work — a concentration that many patients seek when researching complex facial procedures.
The deep plane facelift sits at the heart of his practice. This technique works beneath the SMAS (the superficial musculoaponeurotic system, a layer of connective tissue and muscle beneath the skin) to reposition deeper facial tissues rather than simply tightening the skin surface.
Dr. Bray also performs revision facelift surgery, a demanding area that addresses results from previous operations performed elsewhere. Revision work requires a detailed understanding of scar tissue, altered anatomy, and realistic expectations.
His philosophy, as expressed through his practice, emphasises a natural appearance over an obviously operated look. The goal of deep plane surgery, in this view, is to restore youthful contours while preserving individual character.
Dr. Dominic Bray holds memberships with the European Academy of Facial Plastic Surgery and the American Academy of Facial Plastic Surgery. These affiliations connect his practice to international standards in the field.
Patient education features prominently in his approach. His practice publishes extensive written material on facial ageing, the science of beauty, the psychology of cosmetic surgery, and the stages of facelift recovery.
Recovery is treated as a central part of the surgical journey rather than an afterthought. Dr. Bray provides detailed guidance on what patients can expect through the early swelling phase and into the months when final results emerge.
His London location places him within one of the world's established centres for facial plastic surgery. The city draws patients who value discretion, clinical rigour, and access to specialised facial surgeons.
Dr. Bray also works alongside colleagues including Daniel van Gijn, reflecting a team-based structure within his practice. This collaborative environment supports the demanding nature of deep plane and revision surgery.
Prospective patients often describe extensive research before choosing a facial surgeon. Dr. Dominic Bray's concentrated focus on facelift and rejuvenation surgery is frequently cited as a reason patients consider his practice.
For women in their fifties and sixties considering facial rejuvenation, Dr. Bray's practice positions itself around thoughtful consultation, anatomical precision, and clear communication about outcomes and recovery.
Dr. Dominic Bray represents one option among London's community of facial plastic surgeons, distinguished by his specialisation in deep plane and revision facelift techniques and his emphasis on patient understanding throughout the surgical process.
What recent patients say
4.7 / 5 · 35 Google reviewsAfter 3 years of research to deal with my saggy neck and jowls I found Dominic Bray and it was worth the wait. From consultation to surgery I was fully informed at all times. My surgery went well and I can honestly say there was NO PAIN. After surgery I had a sleepy lip and swelling around the eye, but, as Dominic and Daniel assured me, they disappeared really quickly. I honestly feel amazing, I am so happy with my results. I love the comments I get, people don't think I've had surgery, they think I look great. The results are very natural and I still look like me. Thank you both for making me have a new sense of confidence.
This man is an ever evolving genius; not afraid of taking calculated risks to move the boundaries of face lifting ever forwards. I know this because I had a face lift by him ten years ago and recently I underwent his deep plane face lift. Although I was told I didn't need a face lift I could see that my neck was sagging and taking on a 'turkey' skin' look. Lines were developing around my chin and the development of jowls were on their way. I had exhausted skin treatments; no creams, fillers etc. made any difference. I hated looking in the mirror at the ever increasing image of an old lady. I'd lost the will to dress up and had no confidence when meeting people. Infact I had almost given up trying to regain any semblance of what I once looked like. When I met Dominic Bray for the second time I was fearful that my age would be a deterrent to a second facelift. It wasn't. I underwent the surgery in September and although it was a significantly different experience from the first surgery it was worth it. I sailed through the recovery process and now almost three months on I am delighted with the result. I am 81 years old and I can honestly say I've had a new lease of life; my friends tell me how well I Iook. I don't shy away from mirrors because the image that looks back at me is that of a fresh faced middle aged woman. I am indebted to a unique surgeon who time after time has the ability to create what is aesthetically pleasing. Thank you a thousand times Dominic bray!
Dominic Bray has to be the best plastic surgeon in the country. His team of people are the best too. I wouldn’t dream of going anywhere else.
I cannot speak highly enough of Dominic Bray and Daniel van Gijn and the entire team. From the first consultation to my aftercare, the experience has been exceptional. I recently underwent a deep plane face and neck lift, brow lift, earlobe reduction, and CO2 laser resurfacing, and I am beyond thrilled with the results. My outcome looks incredibly natural — refreshed, lifted, and still very much me. The level of skill, precision, and artistry that both Dominic and Daniel bring to their work is truly outstanding. Beyond their surgical expertise, they are both kind, thoughtful, and genuinely care about their patients. I felt listened to, supported, and completely confident in their hands throughout the entire journey. Thank you both so much for helping me feel like the very best version of myself. I’m absolutely delighted.

Dr. Bray's Surgical Approach

Dr. Dominic Bray approaches the deep plane facelift by working beneath the surface layers of the face to reposition deeper tissue rather than relying on skin tension. This distinguishes the deep plane method from older techniques that pulled primarily on the skin.
The SMAS (the superficial musculoaponeurotic system) is the anatomical foundation of this operation. It is a continuous layer of muscle and fibrous tissue that sits between the skin and the deeper structures of the face, connecting to the platysma muscle of the neck.
