He graduated from the University of Queensland and completed his internship at Princess Alexandra Hospital in Brisbane. Dr. Scamp undertook specialized training in plastic and reconstructive surgery at the Royal Brisbane Hospital starting in 1986, followed by further training in cosmetic plastic surgery at Princess Alexandra Hospital in 1987. He also completed three and a half years of international training across Europe and the USA, including a Cosmetic Fellowship in Harley Street. He obtained his specialist qualifications as a member of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons in the division of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery in 1990.
