At a follow-up appointment in January 2026, I mentioned swelling in my left breast that had persisted for several days. In my opinion, no clear medical diagnosis was provided; instead, an external cause (e.g., a sting) was suspected, and heparin was recommended. No specific further measures or structured follow-up were outlined. My condition worsened in the following days. Since I didn't feel adequately supported, I also consulted my gynecologist. There, an ultrasound and blood test suggested an inflamed hematoma, and further investigation was recommended. When I returned to the practice, a puncture for diagnostic purposes was initially scheduled for the same day. However, this appointment was canceled at short notice, and I was referred to the emergency room instead. The corresponding notification still described an external trigger "in the last few days" as likely, even though the symptoms had been present for some time. In this situation, I would have appreciated a clearer medical assessment, more continuity of care, and closer monitoring. Instead, I repeatedly felt I had to organize additional investigations myself. This was stressful for me for weeks. Many things didn't run smoothly from an organizational standpoint either: Despite repeated requests and emphasizing the urgency, I only received the surgical report after a significant delay. Furthermore, during a follow-up appointment, I got the impression that the issue of evaluation was given high priority. When I expressed my nuanced view of my experience, this was not addressed further, in my perception. I don't want to make sweeping statements about the professional competence, but I would like to describe a process that, for me, was characterized by uncertainty, contradictory communication, organizational difficulties, and, in my view, an unsatisfactory handling of the complication. Overall, I did not feel consistently well cared for throughout the entire process.
