The deep plane facelift technique represents a sophisticated approach to facial rejuvenation that addresses aging changes at the deeper tissue layers. Unlike traditional facelift methods that primarily tighten skin, this procedure repositions the SMAS (superficial musculoaponeurotic system) layer—the fibrous tissue beneath facial skin that connects to underlying muscles.
Dr. Mendoza's surgical approach, based on available patient accounts, emphasizes comprehensive facial contouring through careful manipulation of these deeper structures. This methodology allows for more natural-looking results by restoring facial volume to its youthful position rather than simply pulling skin taut.
Colombia has emerged as a significant destination for medical tourism, particularly in aesthetic surgery. The combination of experienced surgeons, modern medical facilities, and favorable exchange rates has attracted international patients seeking quality surgical care at accessible price points.
Patient reviews indicate Dr. Mendoza maintains active communication channels through social media, including his Instagram presence at @drfabianmendozacpr. This digital accessibility allows prospective patients to review his work and connect with his practice before committing to travel for surgery.
The recovery process following deep plane facelift surgery typically requires careful planning, especially for international patients. Most surgeons recommend staying in Colombia for at least 10-14 days post-procedure to ensure proper healing monitoring and suture removal before long-distance travel.
Dr. Mendoza's practice appears to accommodate English-speaking patients, as evidenced by reviews in English from international clients. This linguistic accessibility proves essential for clear communication about surgical expectations, post-operative care instructions, and addressing any concerns during recovery.
His surgical philosophy, gleaned from patient feedback, emphasizes achieving harmonious facial rejuvenation rather than dramatic transformation. This approach aligns with contemporary aesthetic surgery trends favoring natural-appearing results that enhance rather than alter fundamental facial characteristics.
The deep plane technique's complexity requires extensive anatomical knowledge and surgical precision. Surgeons performing this procedure must navigate delicate facial nerve pathways while repositioning tissue layers, making experience and technical skill paramount considerations when selecting a surgeon.
Patients considering deep plane facelift surgery with Dr. Mendoza should thoroughly research his credentials, review before-and-after photographs, and schedule comprehensive consultations. The decision to undergo facial surgery abroad requires careful evaluation of both surgical expertise and logistical considerations.

UPDATE! Myself and several others, (8 confirmed as of right now), got a very serious infection, called NTM it can take several months to show up! Mine showed up around 3-4months post op! My surgery was Sept 30th 2025! NTM is worse than staff, and mrsa to cure! I will be on iv antibiotics 2 x a day for a month and a half! And STONG oral antibiotics for 12-18months! these antibiotics are no joke! They mess with your system and have a lot of side effects. I spent 3 days in hospital getting it surgically cleaned out, as it was close to my bone and vital nerves for movement and smile! I had no idea about the other people before me who got NTM, and they told me they had advised the dr about it. One got confirmed NTM in Jan 2025 and advised Dr Mendoza about it via WhatsApp, another in Aug 2025, and another in September 2025 all notified him of confirmed NTM! There are more who were messaging him about lumps on their necks! Not many are comfortable speaking publicly, it’s a really scary ordeal! Embarrassing ordeal too! It will be very expensive and time consuming! I am upset this information was concealed, even when I asked point blank if anyone else was having issues, Dr Mendoza said no! I have screenshots to back up what I'm saying too! I was very happy with the facelift, but until the cause of this is found via the cdc cluster investigation currently underway, I would not be comfortable to get a facelift done. I hope no one else has to get this infection, this is why I am posting about it, so people can choose if they are comfortable, I was not aware when I had my surgery.I went through my facelift totally unaware anyone else was experiencing this issue. I will post updates on my TikTok account for anyone curious… suzannenuttall0 Dr Mendoza is an excellent facelift surgeon, I know he did not want these issues either. He is also trying to find out what caused it, and he has been in constant contact with me throughout. Bad situation for everyone! I added some pics showing how this progressed just so others can be aware. However I feel he should have informed me prior to my surgery about the NTM, and when I was asking about my bumps, he should have mentioned that others had contacted NTM, and specifically told me to get an AFB culture test to confirm! He denied knowing, and I have screenshots from other ladies proving they told him they had NTM Jan 2025, Aug 2025 and September 2025. And continued doing surgeries. When I asked my infectious disease specialist how this is normally transmitted, he said the most common cause is not fully sterilized tools! Or something in the OR that was not fully sterilized and came into contact with my neck tissues during surgery! So make of that what you will! Do Your own research on the common most usual reasons for someone getting NTM during a facelift/necklift and draw your own conclusions!
