Dr. Marco Romeo

After a long search for a plastic surgeon in the United States where we live, I decided to expand my search to Spain. After searching long and hard, one name kept popping up: Doctor Marco Romeo. I went back and forth until I had a video call with him and checked his before and after pictures. I booked my surgery seven months in advance and dealt with his lovely assistants Dikra and Maritxel. They were phenomenal following up with everything. Finally we arrived in Madrid and doctor Romeo explained to me everything about the deep plane procedure and what to expect. To make a long story short, doctor Romeo operated on me, and after a scary first week because of the inflammation, and now three months out, I could not be happier with the results. He took care of my sagging face which gave me a sad look all of the time. I have a natural youthful look now and completely natural. I visited some friends I had not seen in a while and I heard comments like “You look fantastic! You look refreshed!”, but they could not put their finger on it. Which gave me a chuckle! In short, I recommend doctor Marco Romeo. His level of professionalism and passion for what he does is very impressive.

My two-week internship with Dr. Marco Romeo was an exceptional experience! It was an incredibly enriching period in which I learned a wealth of fundamental techniques and details about cosmetic surgery. I had the opportunity to observe almost every type of procedure (rhinoplasty, facelift, breast augmentation, blepharoplasty). I am a plastic surgery resident at the University of Medical Sciences of Havana. I completed my fellowship with Dr. Romeo, a plastic surgeon, which was a unique experience. I value all the knowledge he shared, the tips that aren't in the books, his expertise, the learning curve, and his great human qualities, which made each day an excellent academic experience. I want to share my experience with Dr. Marco Romeo because, even though I'm still in the post-operative period, I'm truly so glad I chose him. Marco is a delightful Italian plastic surgeon: attentive, careful, meticulous, and detail-oriented, but also approachable, caring, friendly, and a lot of fun. He listens to what you want and perfectly understood something that was fundamental for me: I wanted natural-looking results. Just 13 days ago, he performed a deep plane facelift on me, and although I know it's too early to talk about a final result, I'm frankly thrilled with what I see and how it's progressing. He also did a few other little "things" that I prefer not to detail and leave as a memento for him 😉. And just 3 days ago, I went back to him for a tummy tuck, after two C-sections, and a mastopexy. Breast surgery was especially important to me because of my history of breast cancer and previous surgeries. Marco improved and flattened the scar from the sentinel lymph node biopsy, worked on the lumpectomy area, and placed POLYTECH implants in both breasts. I'm short and thin, and I was very insistent: nothing exaggerated, I just wanted to see myself, simply better. And I feel he understood perfectly. The second day, though, I literally felt like a pufferfish in a corset 😂: swollen, with the compression garment, the implants, and the bra, all at once. But it was only that day, and afterward, I started to feel much better. My decision to stay three more days in the clinic was also a very good one. It gave me great peace of mind to spend those first few days being cared for and supported until I felt comfortable and independent enough to go home. I want to especially mention Meritxell and Dikra, and the entire team, because they treated me wonderfully, with so much kindness, patience, and attention. And I'll also cherish those little things that make everything more human. Among the little things I brought him from Argentina, I gave him a chocolate-free lemon cookie that I had "stolen" from my daughter, and Marco immediately said, "This is for my wife" 😊. And I sent him "Depresso Fortunato" by Olly through Meritxell; when I saw him again, he remembered and thanked me for the song. I still have a long recovery ahead of me, and I know it's too soon to assess the final results. But so far, I'm very happy, I feel better every day, and above all, very at peace with the choice I made. Thank you, Marco, for your professionalism, your meticulousness, your warmth, and your sense of humor.
