When I decided to go to get facial surgery, I interviewed five surgeons in Seattle and Bellevue/Issaquah. They were all highly recommended and had 5 star reviews. I thought that all I needed was a lower blepharoplasty and a neck lift to address laxity in both areas. Each surgeon agreed that I'd benefit from that work and gave me quotes. None of them mentioned resolving related problems (my left eye had ptosis and functional muscle loss) or suggested other options for facial rejuvenation. I had seen Dr. Chesnut's videos on Instagram. I liked that he incorporated the latest techniques and how detailed his videos were on the type of work one needed to accomplish certain results. So I decided to interview him as well, not really thinking that I'd ever travel to Spokane to get the work done. Meeting with him was a very different experience from the others. First of all, he's really easy to talk to and he takes the time to listen to your goals. He pointed out specific functional problems occurring on my face. He helped me understand that to accomplish what I wanted, that I'd need far more than a lower bleph and neck lift. Everything is connected and as much as I wanted to keep costs low, I realized that he was right. I chose Dr. Chesnut and followed all of his recommendations. My surgery was in June 2025 and I am SO HAPPY with the result. Dr. Chesnut removed years of filler in my face. He cleaned up fibrotic tissue that filler had caused. He gave me better facial symmetry. He fixed areas where my muscles had separated from the fascia and weren't firing properly. It was a lot, but the final result is incredible. I look 20 years younger and much better, I still look like me. The team at Clinic 5C is amazing, but what's more they are all very kind (including Dr. Chesnut). Shelby was a lifesaver during recovery. She patiently answered every question that came up and I had a lot!). I felt cared for and that's important when you get this type of surgery. My recovery was surprisingly fast. The first week or so was tough. I highly recommend paying extra for one of the nurses to assist you in recovery. Once you get past week 1, it gets a lot better. Definitely take the supplements that Dr. Chesnut recommends. The peptides really help you heal faster. I was able to go out in public after two weeks! I decided to post a before and after for those interested. I highly recommend Dr. Chesnut and Clinic 5C. He gave me a beautiful exterior that matches how I feel inside. Worth every penny.

I cannot recommend Dr.Chesnut and his team enough! I flew in from Chicago, and my entire experience was exceptional. Everything - from the months and days leading up to the procedure to the moment I headed home - was seamless and thoughtfully coordinated. You can immediately tell that Clinic 5C is a tight-knit, caring community that genuinely prioritizes patient well being. I especially appreciated the support provided after the procedure, including the amazing recovery modalities, the staff check-ins, thoughtfully curated supplements, and the comfort of the beautiful recovery homes overlooking the Coeur d’Alene River. The healing process felt safe, supported and even peaceful. Another thing that truly stood out was how little pain I felt after my procedure. I honestly don’t think the level of care Clinic 5C provides is comparable to anything else in the world. I’m excited to see how my results continue to heal over the next few months. Undergoing facial plastic surgery - especially in your 30s- can feel like a big and intimidating decision, but I had complete trust in Dr.Chestnut and wouldn’t trust my face with anyone else.

Beyond pleased with my experience (and results) after seeing Dr. Chestnut, and his staff. I am new to the area and was hesitant to even consider "trying someone on", but also determined to find a great provider and practice in Spokane for Dermatology and Aesthetics. After reading Dr. chestnut's reviews, and taking the leap, I don't need to look any further. I understand why his patients come from all over the world to see him. Dr. Chestnut is kind and present, and thoughtful in his suggestions and approach. He is a perfectionist, an artist. His experience, knowledge, confidence, and natural/inate talent, exude in every interaction and treatment. Without hesitation, I highly recommend!

I never expected to pursue cosmetic surgery, but I’m SO glad I found Dr. Chestnut and clinic 5C! After having major corrective jaw surgery a few years ago, I started noticing changes in my face that were bothering me (a hollowness/dark circles under my eyes, asymmetries, etc.) Others had suggested I investigate filler, but as someone with a long history of chronic illness and auto-immune conditions, I had zero interest in putting that into my body. I happened to listen to a podcast interview with Dr. Chestnut and immediately started looking into his practice – the way he emphasized patient health & well-being, as well as optimizing his own lifestyle to be able to offer elite performance as a surgeon really resonated with me, and I knew if I was going to consider surgery, he would be my first choice. As a patient, I was completely taken care of through the entire process, from initial consultation throughout my recovery and beyond – I’m almost 1 year post-op and know I can still contact the clinic at any time if I have a question or concern (which I really don’t, because everything went so smoothly!). My results are amazing, I healed super quickly, and no one would know anything was done. Every little detail is thought out and purposeful, and perhaps the only “downside” is that now my standards for any clinical/surgical experience is going to be ridiculously high :) It truly is next level care, and I cannot recommend highly enough!

The deep plane facelift technique employed by surgeons like MD Chesnut involves sophisticated manipulation of facial tissues beneath the SMAS layer, providing more comprehensive and longer-lasting rejuvenation compared to traditional facelift approaches. This advanced procedure requires precise dissection in the sub-SMAS plane, releasing key retaining ligaments that anchor facial tissues while preserving critical nerve structures including branches of the facial nerve. The methodology centers on repositioning the entire facial soft tissue complex as a unified layer, rather than simply tightening skin, which allows for more natural movement and expression post-surgery.

Surgeons performing this technique must navigate the complex anatomy of the midface, including the zygomatic ligaments and masseteric ligaments, which when properly released allow for vertical repositioning of descended facial tissues. The deep plane approach specifically addresses the nasolabial folds and marionette lines by repositioning the malar fat pad and releasing tethering points that contribute to these age-related changes. Technical considerations include the angle of tissue elevation, typically between 45 to 60 degrees, which provides optimal lift while maintaining natural facial contours and avoiding the windswept appearance associated with more superficial techniques.

According to 247 Google reviews yielding a 4.7 out of 5 star rating, patient experiences with MD Chesnut demonstrate strong overall satisfaction, though the range includes both highly positive and occasional negative feedback as of April 2026. Review analysis reveals patients traveling significant distances for treatment, with one verified reviewer mentioning flying in from Chicago specifically for facial surgery, suggesting the practice attracts medical tourism beyond the local Spokane area. The consultation process appears to be a distinguishing factor, with patients noting they interviewed multiple surgeons before selecting MD Chesnut, indicating a thorough and competitive evaluation process.

Team dynamics emerge as a consistent theme in positive reviews, with patients specifically praising not only the surgeon but the entire practice staff for creating an exceptional experience throughout the surgical journey. The presence of reviews in English exclusively suggests the practice primarily serves English-speaking patients, though this doesn't preclude international patients who communicate in English as a second language. Review authenticity markers include specific procedural mentions and detailed recovery experiences, though the single one-star review without text prevents comprehensive analysis of potential areas for improvement.

Week one involves managing bruising and swelling through cold compresses, head elevation, and prescribed medications, with most patients feeling comfortable with close family members by day 4-5 though public appearances remain limited. The second week marks significant improvement in swelling and bruising, with many patients feeling confident wearing makeup to camouflage residual discoloration and returning to light activities and remote work responsibilities.

Weeks three and four see continued refinement of facial contours as deeper swelling resolves, with most patients comfortable attending social events and returning to normal exercise routines excluding high-impact activities. The three-month milestone represents approximately 80% of final results, with residual swelling in the neck and jawline areas continuing to improve through month six when final photographic documentation typically occurs. Individual healing variations depend on factors including age, skin quality, smoking history, and adherence to post-operative instructions, with non-smokers typically experiencing faster resolution of swelling and improved scar maturation.

Initial consultations for deep plane facelift surgery typically begin with comprehensive medical history review, including previous surgeries, current medications, and any conditions affecting healing or anesthesia safety. Physical examination focuses on skin quality, facial bone structure, degree of tissue descent, and asymmetries that may influence surgical planning and expected outcomes. Patients should prepare specific questions about the surgeon's experience with deep plane techniques, typical recovery timeline for similar patients, and realistic expectations for their individual anatomy.

Important discussion points include anesthesia options, surgical facility accreditation, post-operative care protocols, and financial policies including any additional costs for potential revisions. Bringing photographs from younger years helps surgeons understand patients' facial aging patterns and aesthetic goals, though realistic expectations acknowledge that surgery rejuvenates rather than fundamentally altering facial structure. The consultation provides opportunity to evaluate the surgeon's communication style, staff professionalism, and overall comfort level with the practice environment.
