I’m sharing my experience with Dr Drew Cronin so other patients considering surgery can make informed decisions. My interactions with this clinic took place over approximately a year while I was planning surgery following significant weight loss after having a gastric sleeve. During that process I was working with WSLA and was referred to Dr Drew Cronin, which is why I initially chose this clinic. I booked surgery and paid a $1,000 deposit after receiving the surgeon’s quote. My surgery was scheduled for January 2026 and the payment was being arranged through superannuation. At the time I paid the deposit, I was only provided with the surgeon’s fee. I was not given any estimate for the anaesthetist or hospital costs during the earlier stages of the process. In late December 2025 — only a few days before Christmas and very close to the planned surgery date — I was informed that there would also be an additional anaesthetist fee of around $4,000. Because I had not been given any earlier estimate of these additional costs, this significantly changed the expected total cost of the surgery after the deposit had already been paid. Since the surgery was being arranged through superannuation, it would have been important to know the full expected costs earlier so the correct amount could be organised. Due to this situation, I decided not to proceed with the surgery and had to push to cancel the procedure and recover the money that had already been paid. I did not proceed with surgery, so this review is not about surgical skill. I’m simply sharing my experience regarding the financial information provided during the booking process so future patients know to ask detailed questions about all potential costs before committing to surgery.

From the very first consultation through to surgery and after‑care, I felt completely supported, informed, and genuinely cared for. The results exceeded my expectations, and the follow‑up care has been outstanding — every question answered, every concern taken seriously, and the whole team always warm and reassuring. I’m so grateful for the professionalism, skill, and kindness shown throughout the entire process.
