Dr. Epps practices at Mathew Epps MD Plastic Surgery, which also operates the FACE Aesthetics Medical Spa in Bluffton. The combined setting allows patients to pursue both surgical and non-surgical rejuvenation under one roof.
His surgical menu extends well beyond the facelift. Dr. Epps performs brow lifts, cheek lifts, neck lifts, eyelid surgery, and chin implants, giving patients a range of options for addressing facial aging.
Facial rejuvenation is more than a procedure list for many patients considering surgery. Dr. Epps approaches each face individually, evaluating skin quality, underlying structure, and the patient's personal goals before recommending a plan.
The deep plane technique that Dr. Epps emphasizes works beneath the SMAS layer (the superficial musculoaponeurotic system, a sheet of connective tissue and muscle in the face). By releasing and lifting this layer, the surgeon aims to restore youthful contour without a pulled appearance.
Recovery is a subject Dr. Epps discusses openly during consultation. Most deep plane facelift patients experience swelling and bruising in the first two weeks, with a gradual return to normal life over the following month.
Bluffton, South Carolina, sits within the Lowcountry near Hilton Head Island, a region known for its coastal calm and slower pace. Many patients find this setting well suited to the quiet weeks of early facelift recovery.
Dr. Epps combines surgical practice with a medical spa offering laser skin resurfacing, injectables, microneedling, and skin care. This continuum allows patients to maintain results long after surgery.
His background as a triple fellowship trained surgeon reflects extended study across multiple areas of aesthetic and reconstructive practice. Such additional training beyond residency is often sought by surgeons who concentrate on the face.
Dr. Epps has been featured in regional media, including a Carolina Women profile introducing his practice to the local community. His presence on Instagram as matheweppsmdplasticsurgery also offers a window into his aesthetic sensibility.
Patients considering rhytidectomy (the medical term for a surgical facelift) often prioritize a surgeon who listens carefully and explains options clearly. Dr. Epps structures his consultations to give patients time to understand the technique and its expected outcomes.
For women in their fifties and sixties exploring facial rejuvenation, Dr. Mathew Epps offers an established Bluffton practice built around individualized planning, surgical experience, and a focus on natural-looking results.

So at 62 Years old, not overweight, I would see my reflection in my computer screen before I turned on the power and I wasn’t really happy! I had early stages of “turkey neck” and “ double chin”……. So believe it or not, I saw a billboard for Dr. Epps around Food Lion, and then I started to research him, which I think is what everybody should do! Once you do that, you will find out that he has an education/mentoring that’s just insane; he has trained with not only some of the best in the country but the best in the world, so he’s a little bit under the radar in terms of you not having to travel somewhere else! Dr. Epps and his wife, Jane, and their office manager Rhea ( pronounced Ray) are very compassionate and down to earth and professional all at the same time. I felt that I’ve made new friends, and I love new my chin/jawline Which looks like that of a 30-year-old It’s (chin) somewhere on their Facebook page, so you can see the before and after, So happy my wife is working with them as well!
