Dr. Zins is the absolute best and he is the only surgeon I would trust with any cosmetic procedure. I am posting this because it has now been almost exactly 4 years since he operated on me and every single day I am thankful I went to him with my concerns because he did the best job ever. He listened during our appointment, and 3 days after the procedure even checked up on me to see how things were going which was so kind. I felt very comfortable through the entire process and was very happy with the results, with no exaggeration I can say he did a perfect job.

The deep plane facelift technique represents a significant advancement over traditional facelift methods by addressing facial aging at its anatomical source. This approach involves dissecting beneath the SMAS layer to release and reposition deeper facial structures, creating more natural and lasting results.

During a deep plane procedure, the surgeon works below the superficial musculoaponeurotic system to access the ligaments and attachments that anchor facial tissues. By releasing these deeper structures, the surgeon can reposition sagging tissues without creating tension on the skin surface, which helps avoid the pulled or windswept appearance sometimes associated with older facelift techniques.

Recovery from a deep plane facelift typically involves 2-3 weeks of initial healing, with most visible bruising resolving within 7-10 days and sutures removed at days 7-10. International patients can generally travel home after 10-14 days once swelling has stabilised and wound checks are complete. Most patients return to desk work at 2-3 weeks and to exercise at 4-6 weeks. Final results become visible after 3-6 months as deep tissue swelling fully resolves. Dr. James Zins provides a personalised recovery timeline during consultation.

Deep plane facelift results typically last 10-15 years, significantly longer than traditional SMAS or mini-facelift procedures, which tend to last 5-8 years. The deep plane technique repositions deeper facial tissues — including the SMAS-platysma composite and the released retaining ligaments — rather than simply tightening skin, which produces more natural, longer-lasting rejuvenation. Longevity also depends on individual ageing biology, sun exposure, smoking status, and skincare. Dr. James Zins can discuss expected outcomes for your anatomy during consultation.
