Dr. Kappen focuses on the deep plane facelift, a technique that repositions facial tissue beneath the muscle layer rather than simply tightening the skin. This method is favoured for producing natural-looking, longer-lasting results in facial aging.
Her listed specialties include deep plane facelift, cervicofacial rhytidectomy (a surgical lift of the face and neck), and general facelift procedures. Each addresses different aspects of facial aging with tailored surgical planning.
Beyond aesthetic surgery, Dr. Kappen has experience in cleft lip and palate treatment, a reconstructive discipline requiring precise anatomical understanding. This reconstructive background often deepens a surgeon's grasp of facial structure and healing.
She also performs blepharoplasty (eyelid surgery) and posterior Müller muscle-conjunctival resection, a refined procedure that corrects drooping upper eyelids. These treatments complement broader facial rejuvenation.
Dr. Kappen is affiliated with the University Medical Centre Utrecht, Maxima Medical Center, and Catharina Hospital. Practising within academic and regional hospital settings reflects a career grounded in institutional medicine.
Her surgical philosophy emphasises anatomical precision and results that respect a patient's natural features. The deep plane approach aligns with this goal by restoring facial contours rather than creating an overly tightened appearance.

What recent patients say
4.4 / 5 · 357 Google reviewsI am very satisfied with Faceland Amsterdam Schiphol. Friendly welcome; it looks beautiful and calm. I had a good intake with doctor Mustafa; he is a very calm doctor who explains everything well. He also performed the surgery. During the surgery, too, he explains everything he is going to do. Because I indicated that my eye condition had worsened, he took new photos and performed an examination before starting the operation. The surgery went well. Yes, the injections were very painful, but brief. He also explained everything during the operation. Very satisfied with doctor Mustafa. And I will definitely get the cooling mask as well. The stitches can be removed in a week.
May 12, 2026 upper eyelid correction by Muriel, super nice, done super well, no pain or anything, now waiting for the result 😜
Marjan Bigzada I have been coming to Faceland for years and am a real fan of Marjan! She is a very sweet doctor who listens carefully to your wishes and always puts you at ease during the treatment itself. I enjoy going to Marjan because she works so meticulously and precisely; I really love this. She goes all out to achieve the best possible result. When I have been to Marjan, I always get the end result that is exactly why I get Botox: completely taut skin without wrinkles or visible lines. She has a keen eye for proportions and sees immediately when something threatens to become 'too much'. She warns about this in time and dares to honestly advise against a treatment. Besides precision, I consider this a very important quality of a cosmetic doctor. When I have been to Marjan, it is a wonderful feeling knowing that my forehead, frown lines, and eyebrows will be completely taut and on point again for the next 4 to 5 months 👌🏽 No need to worry about it anymore. Thank you Marjan Bigzada 🙏🏽

The deep plane facelift performed by Dr. Isabelle Francisca Petronella Maria Kappen works beneath the surface muscle layer to reposition facial tissue at its structural source. This distinguishes it from traditional facelifts that primarily tighten the skin.
Central to this technique is the SMAS, or superficial musculoaponeurotic system — a fibrous layer of tissue and muscle that lies between the skin and deeper facial structures. As facial aging progresses, this layer descends, creating jowls and midface heaviness.
